The big problem in 上賀茂 Not enough trash.
Especially at the start of ゴミコロリwhen we depart from Swing, we search desperately for any little scrap or piece of anything on the ground.
Are you able to find trash in this picture?
…If we zoom in, can you see it?
It’s something like a small plastic sticker seal that is tied around a bag of mikans.
Often when coming across a small piece of trash such as this, a couple of people pounce at the opportunity to pick it up.
There are teeny tiny round metal pieces…
Rectangular plastic pieces…
If we dig in the sand, can we find something bigger, better?
What about this? Isn’t a pencil shredding just a slice of wood after all?
It doesn’t matter, we want to fill our garbage bags, so we pick it up and throw it away.
Melted gum… should we really be trying this hard? Are we so desperate?
A pigeon’s feather. Can this be considered trash??
But isn’t it a piece of nature? Well, we are desperate so let’s pick it up…
There is just not enough trash in the streets!
The above examples may help to illustrate why we so often enter deep into abandoned fields, farm paths, street gutters, and dirty canals.
Because this is where we find prize gems (of trash). It’s trash heaven!!!
There just may be someone out there who was nibbling on a cucumber while drinking a lemon sour, got a bit too tipsy and fell into the canal, dropping all of their trash into the water.
It must not have been a good experience. We’re glad we can clean up this mess for you.
Actually, it’s rather exciting/stimulating for us.
As well as for the kids who seem to enjoy to hang into canals and dive into gutters.
Will there be trash anywhere besides the dirty, stinky canals and overgrown farm yards during the next Would someone like the person described above help spice up other, more “normal” areas such as the side of the road?
Well, let's hope the situation improves (by this we mean a trash increase) by December 20th, the next Gomikorori.
